The 1960s were revolutionary in so many ways, but no more than in popular music. I am Matt Williamson, and I started Pop Goes the 60s on YouTube to present 1960s music in an academic and historical way that is also entertaining and accessible. My videos shed new light on artists from the 1960s that are both rare and popular, praised and scorned, underappreciated and underrated. Pop Goes the 60s offers regular commentary and deep dives on the Beatles as well as other groups, both acclaimed and obscure.
PopGoesthe60s.com will continue to expand the dialog by including essays on music, links to historically important writers, and book reviews in addition to expanded band/artist histories and biographies.
